Restoration of Festive Traditions

The Cultural Association Amigos de La Hiruela is carrying out in recent years an important work of recovery of traditions, such as:

Hiruela Festival

Carnival:Endearing festivity that brings together neighbors of all ages with the realization of mask workshops, donut and chocolate tasting, and a costume contest.

Holy Week:Tasting of the typical dish “Hornazo”, which consists of a kind of empanada stuffed with sausage. All the neighbors follow the tradition of going out to the field to eat the Hornazo, in complete comradeship.

Burning of the Judas:It consists of the creation, by the neighbours, of a doll with straw and sacks, which afterwards will be burned in the town square on Holy Week´s Glory Saturday.
